For parents

Is there an app where kids earn screen time by doing homework or chores?

FocusFlow's family plan does this. Parents choose the apps to lock on their kids' devices and give them tasks. Kids earn minutes by finishing tasks, and parents decide which ones are trusted and which need a photo checked first.

How it works for families

  • You set it up on your iPhone and on each kid's iPhone or iPad, together. It takes about five minutes per device.
  • You choose which apps lock on their device.
  • You give tasks: homework, reading, chores, practice.
  • Your kid finishes a task and earns time. For tasks you want checked, they send a photo first.
  • When the earned time runs out, the apps lock again on their own.

Why earning instead of limits

Time limits turn screen time into an argument about the clock. Earning ties it to something your kid controls: finish the work, get the time. You stop being the one who says no.

What it costs and what you need

FocusFlow is free to download from the App Store. The family plan, for parents setting it up on their kids' devices, is $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year after 7 days free.

You need an iPhone, an iPhone or iPad for each kid, and your kids in your Apple Family Sharing group.

Questions

Can my kid turn it off?

No. FocusFlow uses Apple's Screen Time for kids in your Family Sharing group, so it can't be deleted from their device without your approval.

Do I have to check every photo?

No. You decide per task: trusted tasks count straight away, and checked ones wait for a photo.

What ages is it for?

Any age with their own iPhone or iPad.
